Having a basic french toast recipe in your back pocket can open doors for many different variations. It is one of my favorite breakfast meals whether plain or topped with seasonal fruit. A comfort food that will always satisfy.
8 slices bread, your choice
1/2 cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Pinch of sugar
Fruit of choice
Powdered sugar for garnish
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and whisk together until blended.
Preheat nonstick pan or cast iron to medium heat.
Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture at a time, only cooking 2-3 slices of bread at a time in the pan. Stir egg mixture after each dip to ensure enough cinnamon coverage.
Cook until brown, about 2 minutes on each side.
Top with fruit of choice and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
